Nature:  Neutral; sweet and pungent; attributive to heart, spleen and liver.

 

Characteristics: Seeds of a pyramid-shaped tree with small scaly leaves and is frequently used in landscaping. The kernels of the fruits are used in medicine. The Shen Nung's Herbal Classic states, "Thuja seeds eliminate rheumatic dampness and calm the five vital yin organs. Prolonged use improves complexion, sharpens hearing and brightens the eyes. It prevents physical fatigue and prolongs life."

 

Therapeutic effects: Tonify heart energy and tranquilize the mind; moisturize large intestine; promote semen production; nourish liver and assist spleen. Treat insomnia, heart palpitation, constipation, spermatorrhea and male infertility, profuse sweating, physical weakness and malnutrition.
