Achyranthes Bidentata (niu xi) 牛膝
Nature: Neutral and mild; bitter and sour; attributive to liver and kidneys.
Characteristics: Roots of a perennial herb with greenish purple stems and large purple joints that resemble the knee of an ox, hence the Chinese name is "ox-knee". A superior herb highly recommended for bladder and urinary tract problems and menstrual disorders.
