Gingko and Soybean Pastry Dessert


Coughing with phlegm, bronchitis.


Clear heat and phlegm, and moisturize lungs, soothe throat.


  • Soybean pastry 腐竹皮 - 2 sheets
  • Gingko 白果- 10
  • Rock sugar

1.   Remove gingko shells with nutcracker, cut into halves and put in boiling water for a couple of minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes. While the water is still warm, remove membrane and green kernel in the middle if any. Rinse and put aside.  

2.   Crush soybean pastry into tiny pieces inside a plastic bag.

3.   Bring 4 to 5 cups of water in a pot to boil and put both ingredients in. When boil again, reduce heat to medium and cook for about 20 minutes to soybean pastry are mostly melted. Do not cover cooking with lid to prevent boiling over.

4.   When ready, add sugar to taste and serve warm.


No restriction. Do not eat more than 10 gingko per day because to much can be toxic.
