Pig Lung and Lotus Root Soup


Chronic cough.


Promote lung health and stop coughing.


  • Lotus root 蓮藕 – 240gm
  • Pig lung 豬肺 – one
  • Apricot kernek 南北杏 – 30gm
  • Tuber Bletilla (bai ji) 白岌 – 15gm
  • Old ginger root 老薑 – 30gm (cut into slices)

1.   Wash pig lung with salt for a few times, rinse clean and cut into pieces. Put lungs in boiling water to cook for 5 minutes, remove and rinse.

2.   Wash lotus root and cut into pieces.

3.   Rinse herbs and put all ingredients in a soup pot with about 12 cups or 3 litres of water. Bring to a boil, remove foam and reduce heat to simmer for 3 hours to about 4 cups of soup (add boiling water to the cooking if necessary).

4.   Add salt to taste and serve.
