Lime, Chinese Yam and Chicken Soup


All symptoms of diabetes.


Regulate blood sugar.

INGREDIENTS:  (2 to 3 servings)

  • Chicken – one whole
  • Lime –  2 to 3
  • Ginger – 2 slices
  • Chinese yam  (shan yao) 淮山 - 30gm

1.   Soak yam for about 30 minutes and rinse clean.

2.   Wash chicken and cut into quarters, remove skin and obvious fat. Put chicken in boiling water to cook for a few minutes. Remove and rinse.

3.   Wash and cut limes into quarters.

4.   Put all ingredients in a stewing pot or Dutch oven and put in enough water just covering  all ingredients and chicken. Bring to a slow boil and reduce heat to simmer for 2 hours to about 2 cups of soup (add boiling water to the cooking if necessary).

5.   Add little salt to serve. Eat all meat and soup.


No limitation.. Continue with this recipe (cooking at least once a week) to see result in one to two months. Only not suitable for people with weak digestion and frequent acid reflex.


Bring soup to a boil first in a pot over stove top and then transfer the cooking to a slow cooker and cook for 2 to 3 hours.
