Mistletoe and Pork Soup


High blood pressure, weak kidneys and loin pain.


Lower blood pressure, strengthen kidneys, improve arthritis and strengthen tendons and bones.

INGREDIENTS: (4 servings)

  • Mistletoe (sang ji sheng) 桑寄生 – 30gm
  • Eucommia Cortex (du jung) 杜仲  - 15gm
  • Cibotium (gou ji) 金狗脊 – 10gm
  • Citrus Peel (chen-pi) 陳皮 – one piece (pre-soaked and with white tissue removed)
  • Ginger 生薑 - 2 slices
  • Processed dates 南棗 - 4
  • Lean pork 豬肉 – 360 gm
  • Old rice wine 老米酒 - 100cc

1.   Rinse pork and cut into large pieces. Put pork in boiling water to cook for a few minutes, remove and rinse.

2.   Rinse herbs and put all ingredients in a soup pot with about 12 cups of water. Bring to a boil, remove foam and reduce heat to simmer for 2 to 3 hours to about 4 cups of soup.

3.   Add wine and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes.

4.   Add little salt to serve and drink soup only.
