Mistletoe and Sea Cucumber Soup

SYMPTOMS:

Deficiency syndrome of hypertension: blood pressure rises easily during fatigue, scanty urine, hot temper, insomnia, many dreams, numbness in the limbs and pain in the legs.

THERAPEUTIC EFFECTS:

A yin tonic for liver and kidney, reduce blood pressure, nourish blood and lubricate dryness.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Mistletoe (sang-ji-sheng) 桑寄生 - 10gm
  • Sea cucumber (pre-soaked) 海參 - 30gm
  • Rock sugar - 10gm
  • Black pepper

1.    Wash sea cocumber and put it in boiling water to cook for a few minutes. Remove and rinse, and cut into large pieces.

2.     Cook mistletoe in 5 to 6 cups of water for one hour to obtain 3 cups of soup.

3.     Cook sea cucumber in the soup until soft and tender (about 10 minutes).

4.     Add rock sugar and a pinch of black pepper to serve. Eat sea cucumber with soup. 

USAGE:

Eat with meal.
