White Turnip, Kelp and Jelly Fish Soup


High blood pressure, irritated, internal heat and phlegm.


Lower heat and blood pressure, eliminate phlegm, prevent hardening of arteries, calming internal heat.


  • White turnip 白蘿蔔 - one
  • Kelp 海帶 - 40gm (thinly sliced)
  • Jelly fish 海蜇 - 40gm (thinly sliced)

1.     Rinse kelp and jelly fish thoroughly to remove salt.

2.     Peel, slice and shred radish by hand. 

3.     Put all ingredients in a pot with adequate water (about 6 cups).

4.     Bring water to boil, reduce to medium heat and cook for two hours to about one cup of soup left (add water if necessary during the cooking).

5.     Strain and drink soup only.


Take this soup regularly for best result.

ALTERNATIVE RECIPE: (Use desire quantity for each ingredient)

1.    Cook jelly fish in boiling water for a few minutes, strain and soak in cold water for 4 to 6 hours (keep inside the refrigerator and change water at least once) to jelly fish become fully inflated and tender. Strain and keep aside.

2.    Cook kelp in boiling water to desire softness, strain and keep aside.

3.    Finely cut or shred Chinese celery or celery by hand.

4.    Toss and mix all ingredients with seasoning to taste (soy sauce, sesame sauce, salt, sugar, chilly sauce, cooking wine, rice vinegar, etc) and serve as a cold salad or appetizer to be eaten with meal.
