Natural and herbal remedy recipes for anti-aging and forever young

Anti-Aging / Forever Young Recipes

Aging is not a sickness. It is the natural process of gradual wearing out of our body with signs of greying and thinning hair, flabby skin, memory and hearing loss, fatigue and failure in organ functions. Aging increases the chance of developing other health problems. Any sickness, big or small, can intensify the aging process.

Proper diet  is extremely important in nourishing the body systems, regenerating new cells and slowing down the aging process. Eating a healthy diet with nutrient rich, high fiber, low calorie and anti-oxidant rich foods can preserve youthfulness because these foods are known to have anti-aging properties. Heavy meat diet, cigarette, alcohol (except red wine) and drugs can add age quickly to our body and should be avoided.

Foods that are rich in zinc

Foods such as fish and poultry which are rich in zine can boost immune function to resist a host of illnesses. The National Institutes of Health found that people who consume the most lutein--found in leafy greens--especially spinach or romaine lettuce are 43 percent less likely to develop muscular degeneration.

A low sugar diet

A low sugar diet is crucial for slowing down aging. More and more researchers are confirming that sugar accelerates aging and increases the chance of chronic illnesses. What researchers are finding from the major centenarian studies is that there is hardly anything in common among the centenarians. They have high cholesterol and low cholesterol, some exercise and some don‘t, some smoke and some don‘t. Some are nasty as can be, some nice and calm and some are ornery. But, they all have relatively low sugar for their age, they all have low triglycerides for their age, and they all have relatively low insulin. Since insulin controls the rate of cellular proliferation and division, the more sugar in the diet, the more insulin will be produced and the faster the mortality rate of cells and the faster the aging process.

Plenty of Sleep

Other than oxygen and food, sleep is the next most essential thing for any living organism to live. It is because during sleep that our body is undergoing growth, repair and regeneration in order to maintain life. It is vital that we sleep between 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. to allow the body to operate in harmony with the universe. Power napping after lunch or in the afternoon has been proven to improve alertness and extend longevity.

Eating less

Eating is the biggest stress we put on our body. Research found that people following calorie restriction improved their blood insulin level and had fewer signs of damage to their DNA. Eating less food but still maintaining balanced nutrition can reduce tissue wear and tear, inflammation and free radicals.

Adequate Exercise

The right amount of exercise can improve circulation of oxygen, blood and essential nutrients to every cell in our body. Exercising regularly can keep vessels pliable and stop memory loss. Mild exercise also reduces the risk of diabetes, certain cancers, depression, aging of the skin, and even dementia. But over exercising can cause premature aging of muscles and joints.

Be Happy and Positive

Being optimistic and happy at all time is effective in lowering stress hormones in our body. Stress is most damaging to health and can cause many sicknesses and premature aging.

The latest scientific discovery about telomeres and how their shortening is linked to aging and eventual death has brought along many new products to fight aging. The idea is to extend telomeres to extend life and reverse aging. There are studies showing that increasing glutathione, an amino acid manufactured inside our cells, can slow telomere shortening. Since glutathione can hardly be made and injected, eating sulfur rich foods such as egg, meat, seafood, vegetables, seeds and nuts can provide our cells with what is needed to produce glutathione. All this is reaffirming the importance of eating a good balanced diet of whole food with variety so that our body is not lacking any essential nutrients, including those that we may not even know or have discovered.

Blood & Qi

In Chinese medicine, the impairment of blood circulation and qi flow and the deficiency in kidney essence contribute to most health problems. Therefore, foods and herbs for promoting blood and qi circulation and nourishing kidney essence such as royal jelly, goji-berries, astragalus, ginseng, notoginseng, cornbind and ling-chi are commonly used. A group of anti-aging specialists who have done pioneering work in an area of genetics have found out that the herb astragalus contains small amounts of a molecule named TA-65 that throws the switch on the gene that makes telomerase.

Astaxanthin

Astaxanthin, the natural compound that makes salmon, crabs, lobsters, shrimp and flamingos pink or red, has unique anti-aging potential. Astaxanthin exerts a unique protective action on the cell membranes as well as on mitochondrial function (mitochondrial decline is thought to contribute to the aging process). Astaxanthin’s benefits are extensive and diverse, including protection against DNA damage, boosted immunity, improved cognition and lowered triglycerides. Synthetic astaxanthin has a different molecular profile than natural astaxanthin, and may not provide the same benefits

Tonic Soups

Tonic soups are easiest for digestion and absorption, especially for seniors. Sufficient fluid in the body can help hydrating every cell and moving waste and toxins out of the body quickly. Our recipes are to achieve true beauty from within by selecting balancing and nourishing foods.
