Papaya, Superior Herbs & Pork Soup




Promote gut health, benefit all five vital organs and improve skin complexion.


  • Papaya – one (400gm)
  • Chinese Yam  (shan yao) 淮山 – 8 to 10 pieces
  • Ferox Nuts   (qian shi) 芡實 – one handful (40gm)
  • Lotus Seeds  (lien zi) 蓮子 – one handful (30gm)
  • Dried Lily Bulbs  (bai he) 百合 – one handful (30gm)  
  • Radix Glehniae  (bei sha shen) 北沙參 – one handful (30gm)
  • Solomon’s Seal (yu ju) 玉竹 – one handful (30gm)
  • Pork hock 豬展 – 300gm
  • Ginger – 2 slices
  • Citrus peel (chen pi) 陳皮 (soaked and scrapped off white tissue)
  • Honey dates - 2

1.   Wash pork, rough cut into large pieces and put in boiling water to boil for 5 minutes. Remove and rinse.

2.   Soak all herbs together for about 30 minutes. Rinse clean.

3.   Remove papaya skin and seeds and dice into cubes and keep aside.

4.   Put all other ingredients in a soup pot with about 2.5 litres of water. Bring to boil, remove foam and reduce heat to simmer for 2 hours.

5.   Add papaya and cook for another 30 minutes.

6.   Add salt to taste and serve. Eat some content with soup.


No restriction. Suitable for the whole family including the young and the old. Can be taken regularly such as once a week or two to promote health.
