A Cleansing Vegetable congee

Over time, our intestinal tract can accumulate waste products from protein, fat and hormonal residue and it is the cause of many health problems. Symptoms include acne, headache, shoulder pain and constipation.

Weakening of liver which will result in slow metabolism can also cause waste products to accumulate in our intestinal tracts.

To do a complete cleansing, it is necessary to relax the intestine by eating vegetable congee with no salt because salt will cause the intestinal muscle to tighten up. Vegetables high in magnesium and potassium will help the body to eliminate waste through urine and bowel and it will turn blood into more alkaline state than acidic. Eating this congee for all the three meals in a day will only total to around 200 to 300 calories. It will achieve much better cleansing effect than by total fasting.

Ingredient per meal per person:

  • Rice 25 gm
  • Mushroom – one ( thinly cut)
  • Water – 5 to 6 cups
  1. Use at least three of these root vegetables: potato, onion, carrot, turnip, yam, sweet potato, lotus root or burdock.
  2. Rough cut vegetables into big pieces.
  3. Bring water to boil in a pot, put in vegetables and rice and boil under medium low for 5 minutes and then turn to medium heat and cook for 25 minutes.
  4. Choose five different kinds of fast cooking vegetables such as bok-choy, spinach, chive, lettuce, water cress, etc.
  5. Finely cut vegetables and add to congee.
  6. Bring to boil and cook for another 3 minutes.
  7. Add green onion, Chinese celery, basil and or pepper to taste and serve.

For people with strong constitution – take this congee one day a week

For people with average constitution – take this congee one day every 2 weeks

For people with weak constitution – take this congee one meal per week.

For maintenance – take this congee one day every 6 months.
