Cooling and Detoxifying Tea


Summer heat or internal heat syndrome with thirst and uneasiness. 


Lower internal heat and detoxify.


  • Japanese honeysuckle (jin yin hua) 金銀花- 15gm
  • Chrysanthemum flower (ju hua) 菊花 - 30gm
  • Self-heal (xia ku cao) 夏枯草 - 20gm
  • brown sugar – to taste 

1.   Soak herbs for 20 minutes and rinse a couple of times.

2.   Put all ingredients in a pot with about 4 cups of water and bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium and let it boil for 10 minutes.

3.   Strain and serve tea warm or cold.

4.   Add 2 to 3 cups of water to the pot to cook once again to get another cup or two of the tea. 


Suitable for all ages, once a month especially during summer. Self-heal is known for treating gout by lowering uric acid level.
