Snow-ear Mushroom, Pear and Quail Soup


Bleeding nose, sore throat, lack of sleep, cough with thick yellow phlegm due to internal heat or dry weather, smoking or too much alcohol.


Clear internal heat and moisturize throat; promote vital fluid, clear phlegm and stop coughing.


  • Snow-ear mushroom 雪耳 - 20gm
  • Chinese pear 雪梨 - one
  • Quail 鵪鶉 - 4
  • Lean pork 瘦肉 - 120gm
  • Honey dates 蜜棗 - 4

1.     Cut quails into halves, remove neck and tail and put in boiling water for a few minutes to rinse clean and retrieve. 

2.     Peel pear, cut open, remove core and cut into 6 or 8 pieces.

3.     Rinse pork and cut into big pieces.

4.     Soak mushroom in water for 15 to 20 minutes. Cut out stem, rinse a few times until water is clear. 

5.     Put all ingredients (except mushroom) in a soup pot with about 2 liters of water and bring to boil. Remove foam, reduce heat and let it simmer for 1.5 hours.

7.     Add mushroom and cook for another 30 minutes.

8.     Add salt to serve.


Not suitable for coughing with clear phlegm.
