Papaya and Snow-ear Mushroom Soup (1905)

Papaya and Snow-ear Mushroom Soup


Dry cough due to internal heat, lack of sleep, rough skin.


Tonify lungs; clear phlegm; moisturize skin and promote bowel movement.


  • Snow-ear mushroom - 12gm
  • Lean pork 瘦肉- 150gm
  • Papaya 木瓜- 300gm (peeled, seeded and diced)
  • Goji-berry/Chinese wolfberry 枸杞子- 8gm
  • Ginger - 2 slices

1.   Soak mushroom until soft (about 20 minutes) and rinse.

2.   Soak goji-berries for 20 minutes and rinse a few times until clean.

2.   Wash pork, cut into a few pieces and rinse in boiling water for a few minutes, retrieve and rinse.

3.   Put pork, ginger, mushroom and goji-berries in a soup pot with about 2 liters of water. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours (add boiling water to the cooking if necessary).

4.   Add papaya to cook for another 30 minutes.

5.   Add salt to taste and serve.


Eat regularly with meals.


Skip pork and add pitted red dates (8) to cook all ingredients together for 30 minutes (with adequate water) and add sugar to make it into a dessert for similar health benefits.
