Black Meat Chicken and 5 Vital Herbs Soup


Pale, lack of energy, losing hairs and women with irregular periods.


Tonify blood and qi, promote essence, improve spleen and liver functions, promote healthy hair.

INGREDIENTS: (for 3 servings)

  • Angelica Sinensis (dang gui) 全 當 歸 - 15gm
  • Procedded Rehmannia Radix 熟 地 - 30gm
  • Hemlock Parsley (chuan xiong) 川 芎 – 30gm
  • Dangshen 党 參 – 30gm
  • Chinese Jujube/ Red Date (da zao) 大 棗 – 4
  • Chinese Cornbind (ho shou wu) 首 烏 – 30gm
  • Black-meat Chicken 烏 雞 – one whole
  • Ginger 生 薑 - 3 slices
  • Rice Wine 米 酒 -  200cc
  • Citrus Peel (chen-pi) 陳皮 – one piece (soaked and with white tissue scraped and removed)

1.   Wash chicken, cut into quarters, remove skin and fat and put in boiling water to cook for about 3 to 5 minutes. Remove and rinse.

2.   Soak all herbs together for a few minutes and rinse clean.

3.   Put all ingredients in a soup pot with about 10 to 12 cups of water (about 3 litres). Bring to boil, remove foam and reduce heat to simmer for 3 hours (add boiling water to the cooking if necessary) to reduce water to half.

4.   Add salt to taste. Take one big bowl of soup per day for three days (eat some meat if desire). Keep soup in the firdge and reheat to serve the following days.  


Not suitable when having cold or flu.
