Astragalus & Angelica Mutton Soup


General weakness after sickness or after child birth or anemia.


Promote blood and qi, warm stomach and promote energy.

INGREDIENTS: ( 2 to 3 servings)

  • Angelica Sinensis (dang gui) 當歸 – 24gm
  • Astragalus (huang qi) 黃耆 – 24gm
  • Dangshen 黨參 – 24gm
  • Red Dates 紅棗 – 4
  • Mutton - 500gm
  • Ginger - 25gm
  • Cooking wine (one spoon)

1.   Wash mutton and cut into large pieces. Put in boiling water to cook for 5 minutes. Remove and rinse.

2.   Soak all herbs together for about 10 minutes and rinse clean.

3.   Put all ingredients in a soup pot with about 10 to 12 cups or 3 litres of water. Bring to boil, remove foam and reduce heat to simmer for 3 hours to reduce water to half (add boiling water to the cooking if necessary).

4.   Add salt to taste. Take one big bowl of soup per day for three days (eat some meat if desire). Keep soup in the fridge and reheat before serving (not microwaving).  


Do not take when having cold or flu.
