Pig Liver and Chinese Yam Soup


Deficiency of blood and qi, cold hands and feet, lack of energy.


Benefit the spleen and stomach, tonify blood and qi, strengthen body.


  • Pork liver - 320gm
  • Lean pork - 240gm
  • Chinese yam (shan yao) 淮山 - 40gm
  • Citrus peel (chen-pi) 陳皮 - one small piece (soaked and with white tissue scraped and removed)
  • Pitted red dates (da zao) 大棗 - 4
  • Ginger juice - one spoon
  • Cooking wine - two spoons

1.     Wash liver and pork, cut into thin pieces and seasoned to taste (with salt, ginger juice, cooking wine, soy sauce, sugar and starch) and set aside.

2.     Rinse other ingredients and cook them in a pot with about 6 cups of water for 1.5 hours to reduce water to half (add boiling water to the cooking when necessary).

3.     Add liver and pork to the cooking and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes to just cooked and not over done..

4.     Add seasoning to serve. Eat content with soup.
