Winter Melon & Job’s Tears Congee


High body temperature with slight fever.


Lower summer heat. Relieve heat and fever and internal dampness. This recipe is also suitable for adults with similar symptoms of tiredness, lack of appetite and slight fever.


  • Winter melon – 200 gm
  • Rice - 40 gm
  • Job's Tears / Coix Lacryma-Jobi (yi yi ren) 薏以仁 - 20 gm

1.  Wash winter melon with skin and cut into large pieces. Rinse rice and job’s tears.

2.   Put all ingredients in a pot with eight cups of water. Bring to boil and lower heat to medium and cook until all the ingredients are soft and the water turn thick into congee.

3.   Eat melon (discard skin) and congee as meal.
