Papaya, Pork and Vital Herbs Soup


Damp heat in stomach with scanty urine and loose bowel, weaken bones and tendons.


Strengthen spleen and moisturize intestines, muscle and skin.

INGREDIENTS: (4 servings)

  • Job's Tears (yi yi ren) - 苡米 – 60gm
  • Indian Bread (fu ling) 茯苓 – 30gm
  • Chinese Yam (shan yao) 淮山 – 30gm
  • Solomon's Seal (yu ju) 玉竹 – 30gm
  • Papaya 木瓜 - half
  • Lean pork 瘦肉 – 300gm
  • Red date 紅棗 - 4
  • Citrus Peel (chen-pi) 陳皮 – one small piece (pre-soaked and with white tissue removed)
  • Ginger 生薑 - 3 slices
  • Pig pancreas - 2 (optional for promoting spleen health and treat diabetes)

1.   Soak herbs for half an hour and rinse clean.

2.   Remove skin of papaya, cut into large cubes and put together with all ingredients in a soup pot with about 2.5 litres of water. Bring to boil, remove foam and reduce heat to medium low to simmer for 2.5 hours.

3.   Add salt to serve. Eat papaya with soup.


No restriction. Should be taken regularly by the whole family to promote health and prevent sickness.
