Pepper Root and Chicken Soup


 Stomach cold syndrome with pain and the pain intensify when eating cold food and improve when eating warm or hot food.


Disperse cold and warm stomach, improve spleen functions and stop pain.

INGREDIENTS: (2 to 3 Servings) 

  • Chicken - one
  • Pepper root 胡椒根 - one or 30gm
  • Dang shen 黨參 - 45gm
  • Pitted red date 紅棗 - 5
  • Ginger - 2 slices

1.   Wash chicken, remove skin, tail and obvious fat and cut into large pieces. Put chicken in boiling water to cook for a few minutes, remove and rinse.

2.   Rinse other ingredients. 

3.   Put all ingredients in a soup pot with 2 to 3 litres of water, bring to boil, remove foam and reduce heat to simmer for 3 hours.

4.   Add salt to serve. Drink soup mainly.


Not suitable when having damp heat syndrome with loose bowel.


  • Matured duck - one
  • Boneless pork hock - 640gm
  • Chinese ham - 40gm
  • Pepper seed (crushed) - 12gm
  • Ginger - 4 slices
