Shiitake Mushroom and Bass Stew


 Frequent loose bowels, fullness in the abdomen and wanting to throw up, tired and looking dull.


Invigorate spleen and stomach, eliminate dampness and promote circulation of vital energy, stop diarrhea and vomiting. 


  • Dried Mushroom 冬菇 - 40gm
  • Sea Bass - 160gm
  • Grains-of-paradise (sha ren) 砂仁- 8gm
  • Citrus peel (chen-pi) 陳皮 (pre-soaked and with white tissue removed) - 8gm
  • Ginger - 3 slices
  • Cooking wine  - two spoons

1.   Soak mushroom until soft and rinse a few times. Remove stem and cut into thin slices.

2.   Clean bass fish, rinse and dry with paper towel.

3.   Heat two spoons of oil in a skillet or wok and put in ginger and bass to pan-fry until both sides are slightly brown. Sprinkle in two spoons of cooking wine and two cups of water.

4.   Transfer cooking to a soup pot. Add mushroom and all other ingredients. Bring to slow boil and then simmer for 30 minutes.

5.   Add seasoning to serve (salt, pepper, sesame oil). Eat some fish with soup.


Not suitable when there is stomach cramp and burning sensation in the anus.
