Promote Energy Recipes

If you have a healthy lifestyle including a good diet, a proper balance between exercise and rest, you will have good energy level. If you lead a busy lifestyle with excessive physical activities including sex, sleep deprivation, an unhealthy diet or a recent sickness, you will suffer from energy deficiency.

A lot of times, feeling tired is a sign of dehydration. Keeping our body properly hydrated is important in keeping energy flowing.

When you are low on energy, eat a handful of trail mix. Raisins provide potassium, which your body uses to convert sugar into energy. Nuts stock your body with magnesium, which is important in metabolism, nerve function, and muscle function. When magnesium levels are low, your body produces more lactic acid--the same as fatigue-inducing substance that you feel at the end of a long workout. Other foods that are high in magnesium are spinach and tofu which can improve muscle function and blood circulation.

Foods high in inulin such as garlic, onion, wheat can promote blood and improve energy. Whole grain and oat are complex carbohydrates which can keep the body full and with longer lasting energy. Egg white provides good protein for building muscle and strength.  

Blood and qi are first and foremost in Chinese medicine in promoting health. When there is an abundant supply of both, abundant energy will follow. Energy nurturing herbs mixed with highly nutritional foods, such as chicken, are amongst the common recipes in promoting energy. Blood tonic and qi tonic can also be used to promote energy.
