American Ginseng Chicken Dumpling




Replenish qi and energy and lower internal heat.


  • Wild American Ginseng 野生花旗蔘 -  15gm
  • Chicken – one whole
  • Sticky rice powder 糯米粉 – 120gm

1.   Wash chicken, cut into 2 halves and cut out the breasts and keep aside. Then put the chicken into boiling water to cook for 5 minutes, remove and rinse.

2.   Soak half of the ginseng with water and put the other half with ginseng in a soup pot with 2 litres of water and bring to a boil. Remove foam, reduce heat to medium and cook for one hour.

3.   Cut chicken breasts into smaller pieces and put them with soaked ginseng into a food processor to mince together to make a chicken paste. Add some seasoning to taste (salt, wine, pepper, sesame oil, corn starch, etc.).

4.   Mix rice powder with half cup of hot water into a dumpling dough. Add extra water if necessary to desire softness.

5.   Use one spoon of dumpling and roll it by hands into a ball, then flatten it to wrap chicken paste in the centre and roll again by hands into a perfect ball. Repeat until all the dough and chicken paste are used.

6.   Cook dumplings in the chicken soup for 30 minutes over medium low heat.

7.   Add seasoning to serve and eat dumpling with soup.


Take regularly for best result. No suitable when having cold or flu.
