Notoginseng and Pork Soup

Replenish qi, promote energy and improve general health.


  • Notoginseng (san qi) 田七 – 15gm
  • American Ginseng 花旗參 – 15gm
  • Astragalus (huang qi) 北蓍 – 15gm
  • Honey dates 蜜棗 – 8  
  • Abrus Cantoniensis 雞骨草 – 6gm
  • Bletilla Striata (bai ji) 白芨 – 9gm
  • Pork hock 豬展 – 240gm

1.   Wash pork and cut into large pieces. Put in boiling water to cook for 5 minutes. Remove and rinse.

2.   Soak all herbs together for about 10 minutes and rinse clean.

3.   Put all ingredients in a soup pot with about 12 cups or 3 litres of water. Bring to a boil, remove foam and reduce heat to simmer for 3 hours to about 2 cups of soup (add boiling water to the cooking if necessary).

4.   Add salt to taste. Take soup only.
