Notoginseng and Ox-tail Soup

SYMPTOMS:

Blood-stasis syndrome, lack of energy.

THERAPEUTIC EFFECTS:

Promote blood circulation to remove blood stasis, replenish blood and benefit qi.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Notoginseng (san qi) 三七 - 12gm
  • Dang seng 黨參 - 20gm
  • Ox-tail (pieces) - 120gm
  • Ginger - 2 slices

1.     Rinse herbs and crush notoginseng into finer pieces.

2.     Wash ox-tail and put in boiling water to cook for 5 minutes, retrieve and rinse.

3.     Put all ingredients in a casserole with hot water covering them and put on the lid.

4.     Place the casserole on a stainless steel cooling stand inside a pot or a wok with enough hot water at the bottom coming up to a third of the casserole.

5.     Cover the pot or wok with lid and place it over medium-high heat to cook for 2 to 3 hours. Add hot water regularly to the cooking to maintain boiling and prevent drying.

6.     When done, add seasoning to serve.  Eat meat with soup.

USAGE:

Use regularly with no restriction.

 

ALTERNATIVE METHOD:

Bring the soup to a boil in a pot for about 10 minutes and transfer the cooking to a slow cooker and cook for 4 hours on high heat.
