Chinese Yam, Pig Stomach and Pork Congee

SYMPTOMS:

General weakness.

THERAPEUTIC EFFECTS:

Improve appetite and digestive function, promote health, benefit heart and kidney.

INGREDIENTS: (2 to 3 servings)

  • Chinese yam (shan yao) 淮山 – 60gm
  • Pig stomach 豬肚 – one
  • Pig heart 豬心 – one
  • Salted lean pork – 160gm
  • Rice – one cup
  • Ginger – 3 slices

1.   Rinse pork, season with 3 spoon of salt and keep in fridge overnight.

2.   Soak yam for 30 minutes. Rub surface by hand and rinse clean.

3.   Wash pig stomach and heart with salt and cut into smaller pieces. Put them in boiling water for a few minutes, retrieve and rinse.

4.   Rinse pork to get rid of salt.

5.   Put all ingredients except rice in a pot with about 2.5 litres of water. Bring to a boil, remove foam and reduce heat to medium to cook until pig stomach is tender.

6.   Rinse rice and add to the cooking until rice turn into congee. Eat stomach and heart with congee.

USAGE:

No restriction and suitable for all seniors to improve health.
