Dang-shen Chicken Soup


Dizziness due to deficiency syndrome.


Energy and yin tonic, promote blood circulation.

INGREDIENT: (2 servings)      

  • Dang-shen  黨參 - 10gm
  • Astragalus (huang qi) 黃耆 - 10gm
  • Sealwort (huang-jing) 黃精 - 15gm
  • Chicken - 1 whole
  • Black beans 黑豆 - 100gm
  • Peas 青豆- 50gm

1.   Soak black beans for 2 hours and cook in 2 cups of water on medium low heat for 30 minutes or until cook.

2.   Cook the 3 herbs together with 4 cups of water over medium heat for 30 minutes to get 2 cup of tea, strain and keep aside.

3.   Wash chicken and cut into 8 pieces. Pan fry chicken with 2 spoons of oil until brown on the outside, add wine, soy sauce, brown sugar and salt to taste and let it cooks for a few more minutes.

4.   Add herbal tea to the cooking, cover with lid and cook for 10 more minutes.

5.   Add black beans and peas and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes. Add seasoning to taste and serve.
