The Five Flowers Tea

SYMPTOMS:

Wind-heat syndrome of high fever and mild chilliness, excessive thirst, restlessness and insomnia, skin eruption, loose stool, abdominal pain and fatigue.

THERAPEUTIC EFFECTS:

Clear heat and toxic material, expel wind and dampness, stop diarrhea, benefit lungs, liver, spleen and stomach.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Japanese honeysuckle (jin yin hua) 金銀花 - 24 gm
  • Chrysanthemum flower (ju hua) 菊花 - 15gm
  • Japanese pagoda (huai hua) 槐花 -15gm
  • Cotton tree flower (mu men hua) 木棉花 - 18gm
  • Frangipani flower 雞蛋花 - 18gm
  • Brown sugar - 60gm

1.     Rinse herbs and put in a pot with adequate water (about 6 cups).

2.     Simmer until 2 cups of water left.

3.     Strain, add brown sugar and drink as tea by 2 servings.

USAGE:

Drink twice a day and the symptoms should be gone in 2 days. For prevention, recommend to take this tea once a month.  Suitable for all ages and especially children eating too much deep-fried foods.

ALTERNATIVE RECIPE:

Use only the first two herbs, 40gm each, to cook with 7 to 8 cups of water for 15 mintues to drink as detoxify tea regualrly for the whole family. Add brown sugar if necessary for children and the tea can be taken as refridgerated cold beverage.
