White Turnip and Mutton Soup

SYMPTOMS

Cold syndrome with yang deficiency resulting in cough and phlegm.

THERAPEUTIC EFFECTS:

Benefit kidney and yang energy, clear toxic material and improve digestion, clear phlegm and stop cough, improve blood circulation and increase yang energy.

INGREDIENTS:  (2 TO 3 SERVINGS)

  •       Mutton 羊腩肉- 640gm or 1.5 lb.
  •       White turnip / daikon 白蘿蔔- 640gm
  •       Ginger 生薑- 4 slices
  •       Green onion - 2 (cut into sections)
  1. Wash, peel and rough chop turnip.
  2. Wash mutton flank, cut into 2" cubes and put in boiling water for a couple of minutes to rinse off fat and blood. Remove, rinse and drain.
  3. Put first three ingredients in a soup pot with adequate water (about 3 liters) and bring to a boil.Remove foam, reduce heat and simmer for 3 hours with about 1/3 of the water left.
  4. Add green onion and seasoning to serve. Eat content with soup as main course of meal.

USAGE:

Not suitable when having fever, cold or flu.
