Black Bean, Goji-berry and Carp Soup


Lack of energy and blood.


Tonify kidney and strengthen yang energy, promote blood and strengthen body.


  • Black bean - 80gm
  • Goji-berry / Chinese wolf-berry (gou ji zi )枸杞子 - 40gm
  • Carp 鯽魚 - one (about 2 lbs)
  • Ginger - 2 slices
  • Pitted red dates  紅棗 - 5

1.     Stir-fry black beans in a pan over low heat with no oil until roasted and skin burst open. Remove, rinse and drain.

2.     Wash carp with salt and pat dry.

3.     Pan-fry the fish with one spoon of oil and ginger until both sides are slightly brown.

4.     Rinse other ingredients and put everything in a pot with adequate water (about 2 liters) and bring to a boil.

5.     Remove foam and oil on top, reduce heat and simmer for 3 hours with 2 cups of soup left.

6.     Add seasoning to serve. Eat some content with soup.


Suitable for all ages except people with acne or hemorrhoids.
